The program "Psychoanalytic psychotherapy for children and adolescents"

The Society of Child Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (SCPP), the membre of the children's section of the European Federation of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (EFPP) presents:
Duration of the training program – 4 years

About Training Program

Personal psychotherapy (2-3 times a week) or psychoanalysis with the training psychotherapists of the Society of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (EFPP member) or the IPA members.

Clinical seminars – 240 hours (plus participation at the clinical presentations at the conferences organized by the SCPP and participation in the small supervision groups with one of the SCPP members).

Theoretical seminars – 240 hours, 20% psychoanalytic theory, 20% human growth and development, 30% psychopathology, 30% psychoanalytic concepts and technique (plus participation at the conferences of SCPP, individual work and consultations during writing the papers).

Infant observation seminars – 1,5 years, about 60 once a week seminars (120 hours).
3 cases in a non-intensive setting (1 time a week), lasting at least for one year.

3 cases in an intensive setting (2-3 times a week), patients should be of different ages (preschool, latent and adolescent), one case should last at least two years, 2 other cases – at least for a year.

Work with parents – regular meetings with parents as part of work with a child or adolescent

Individual supervision: Candidates should supervise cases with an intensive and non-intensive settings, in total 200-220 hours of individual regular supervision (1 time per week for intensive psychotherapy or 1 time every 2 weeks for non-intensive psychotherapy) with two or three different supervisors.

Work with patients: 400 hours of psychoanalytic psychotherapy
The program is based on the basic principles of training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy for children and adolescents adopted by the European Federation of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (EFPP):
Scientific activity: Candidates are expected to take an active part in the scientific work of the society, participate in conferences, open seminars and summer schools.
The training cycle includes theoretical and clinical seminars on psychoanalytic psychotherapy and its application, including materials of clinical presentations:

The program purposes

As a result of education the trainees should have experience in different clinical settings and be acquainted with a wide range of clinical situations, mental disorders, social deprivation and be able

to conduct assessment;

brief work;

intensive and non intensive psychotherapy;

child and parents consultations;

work with parents;

consultations with families of young children;

child or adolescent psychotherapy

Final evaluation

Candidates should conduct 6 cases under the supervision and describe 3 cases for the evaluation, at least one of the described cases should be in intensive psychotherapy (described in more details) and 1-2 other cases could be in non-intensive psychotherapy (in less details). Cases could be finished before the evaluation.
